Tattoo and Piercing State Age Laws (Nebraska – Pennsylvania)

Posted on 12 August 2012 by Karen L. Hudson

The following list will give you the last known age requirement laws for tattoos and body piercings in each of the United States. Please be aware that these laws are ever changing, but I will do my best to keep this list current. Also, many states allow city and county governments to create their own mandates that may override the state laws.

For more information, see:  How Old Do You Have to be to Get a Tattoo or Piercing?

Note: Regardless of the laws in place, any shop owner may raise the age minimum at their discretion. (They may not, however, lower any age minimum laws in place) Many shops refuse to tattoo or pierce individuals under 16, regardless of parental consent, even if the law would allow them to do so. Always check with the studio about their rules first.
