So, I finally got around to watching this week’s episode of Ink Master. (Thank goodness for DVRs; otherwise I’d probably miss just about all of the shows I watch) Some of my original fears are coming to fruition – like the one about my concern that the judges aren’t really qualified to be judging these artists in the first place.

Ink Master - Spike's New Show Raises Eyebrows and Doubts

Last night, a new tattoo show called Ink Master  premiered on Spike TV. It’s a competition reality show that pits several talented tattoo artists against each other in a variety of challenges, elmininating one at a time until a winner is chosen. If you watch any reality competition shows, you know the drill – from Project Runway to the Amazing Race, it’s all about brutal challenges and seeing who doesn’t crack under the pressure. These shows are designed to stress the contestants to their limits, creating drama and excited anticipation for audiences. If you don’t like reality competition shows, you won’t like Ink Master. But that doesn’t mean the show is without its merits.
